Tarpaulins Direct started out in 1975 from a shed at the back of the then owner's home. He bought a selection of tarps and started selling them to local farmers one tarp at a time to cover their haystacks and to use on agricultural buildings and farm machinery. Each time he sold a tarp he'd learn a little more about the business and over time he used this information to start stocking more types of tarp that people wanted but were difficult to find. Eventually he started buying his tarpaulins directly from the factories that made them in the far east.
